PortXchange and Albatroz alliance to build Brazilian port tech development

PortXchange, a digital solution for port operations developed by the Port of Rotterdam, has entered a partnership with the robotics and technology developer Albatroz Energia to develop digital systems in support of the Brazilian port sector.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]Originally PortXchange was developed by the Port of Rotterdam to help port terminals and shipping lines communicate over berthing times and details. During the development phase the system was known as Pronto, and was developed with the strategic partnership with Shell and Maersk as well as Rotterdam Port.

In 2019 Pronto was established as an independent company, now known as PortXchange the system is used by more than 50 companies and has supported more than 100,000 port calls, according to the company.

The latest collaboration with Albatroz Energia will “expand PortXchange’s presence in Latin America, making Brazil the second Latin American country that will release benefits of the PortXchange platform for port call optimization and CO2 reduction.”

In effect the digital platform aims to improve communications between all the parties involved in a port call, combining a number of data sources and allowing all the parties involved to plan the port call from arrival to departure as accurately as possible.

“In this way, activities that must occur during the port call can be seamlessly co-ordinated with each other,” said a company statement.

In addition the company said, “It enables vessels to optimise their sailing speed and arrive at the port when berth, tugs, and pilot’s availability are ensured. This is known as Just in Time sailing, which reduces idling and significantly contributes to fuel and emission reduction.
