Port Sudan terminals halt operations – MSC stops voyages at King Abdullah Port

The terminals at Port Sudan have ceased operations, according to MSC’s announcement, creating uncertainty on the berthing prospects of the company’s vessels and causing important delays.

“This unfortunate situation makes it unreasonable to continue the carriage of their shipment to Port Sudan as initially intended,” said the Swiss container line in its statement.

Therefore, MSC announced the end of voyages at King Abdullah Port for all container types including reefer and dry cargo “in accordance with clause 19 of our Bill of Lading and Sea Waybill Terms and Conditions.”

MSC noted that cargo will be at its customers’ disposal for pick up on their own account (clause 19.1(c)) after payment of due costs and local charges.

“Due to the risk of cargo deterioration and damages to MSC reefer equipment, we invite the merchant to take delivery as soon as possible,” added the carrier.

MSC noted it continues to monitor the developments in Port Sudan in order to resume its services, when the situation returns to normal.
