Port of Valencia to build two electrical substations

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) is proceeding with many initiatives aiming to make its operations more ecological.

These projects include the building of two electrical substations and the use of hydrogen and the installation of photovoltaic and wind power plants.

The head of the Ecological Transition of the PAV, Federico Torres, said the port authority will invest “€130 million (US$138,87 million) in environmental actions within the framework of its strategic objective Valenciaport 2030, zero emissions.”

Regional secretary of Sustainable Economy of the Generalitat Valenciana, Empar Martínez supports the acceleration of renewable energy projects such as those in Valenciaport.

At the same time, PAV, as part of these activities, held the conference “Renewable energy in port” on World Environment Day.

During his speech, Torres also mentioned other initiatives such as the use of alternative fuels, the installation of photovoltaic stations in Valencia and Gandia, the commitment to the railway and the electrification of Valenciaport’s internal network.

“For the Generalitat Valenciana is a priority to deploy the development plan for renewables and accelerate all these initiatives, for them we have the Declaration of energy and climate priority,” said Empar Martinez.
