Port of Oakland has given a key role to its veteran project administrator, Jason Garben, in planning the port’s maritime future.
In particular, Jason Garben was appointed as Project Management Services Manager in maritime Division. The newly-created position is anticipated to help spearhead the seaport’s development and modernisation efforts.
The US port explained that Garben would manage a team of four responsible for planning infrastructure projects. The group’s purview would include Oakland’s entire physical plant, from marine terminals to support facilities.
“With so much attention on the global supply chain these days, the Oakland Seaport will have the opportunity to really distinguish itself as a leader in maritime commerce,” said Maritime Director, Bryan Brandes.
In his new position, Garben reports to the Port’s Maritime Director. The Californian Port said that Garben would collaborate with revenue and operations management teams to balance business development and regulatory compliance.
Garben joined the Port of Oakland in 2017 as a Senior Maritime Project Administrator, and before that, he had worked as Development Services Director for the city of Suisun.
