Port of New York and New Jersey moves over 1.2 million TEUs in first two months of 2023

The Port of New York and New Jersey is the busiest container port in the United States during the first two months of 2023.

Even though February is typically the weakest month for all US ports due to foreign production slowdowns and cancellations associated with the Lunar New Year holiday, the Port of New York and New Jersey reported relatively good container volumes, transporting 571,177 TEUs.

For the first two months of the year, the port handled over 1.2 million TEUs.

The Port of New York and New Jersey has been actively cleaning out its empty container inventory, removing over 390,000 TEUs so far this year. This evacuation of empty containers benefits seaport operations and mobility by providing more container terminal room for future shipments to be handled swiftly at the port.
