In September 2024, Port of Melbourne’s total container throughput rose compared to September 2023, reaching 284,000 TEUs.

Full container imports (excluding Bass Strait) saw a growth over the previous year, with furniture, domestic appliances, and paperboard all showing higher volumes. However, total empty container movements declined in September compared to the same month last year.
