Port of Los Angeles surpasses 900,000 TEU mark again

The Port of Los Angeles achieved a record-breaking milestone in October, handling 905,026 TEUs, representing a 25% increase over the same month in 2023.

This marks the first time the Californian port has surpassed 900,000 TEUs for four consecutive months.

For the first ten months of the year, the Port of Los Angeles has moved 8,491,420 TEUs, reflecting a 19% increase over the same period in 2023.

Long Beach breaks record with nearly 1 million TEUs in a single month

In October, the US port handled 462,740 loaded import TEUs, a 24% rise year-over-year, while loaded exports reached 122,716 TEUs, translating to a modest 1% growth. Additionally, the Port of Los Angeles processed 319,570 empty containers, representing a significant 38% surge compared to 2023.

At a media briefing, Mary E. Lovely, Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute of International Economics, joined Los Angeles Port Executive Director Gene Seroka to discuss the potential implications of new tariffs on goods from China and other countries.
