The Port of Los Angeles has announced a continued commitment to advancing clean transportation, with a three-year plan to accelerate the transition of its drayage fleet to zero-emissions trucks by 2035.
The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners has unanimously approved a funding strategy that will guide the use of Clean Truck Fund revenues through June 2028.
The Clean Truck Program is a cornerstone of a broader mission to eliminate pollution from all aspects of Port operations, said Harbor Commission President Lucille Roybal-Allard.
“The Clean Truck Fund is a targeted, short-term tool to deliver immediate results,” added Port Executive Director Gene Seroka .
The CTF is funded through a rate charged to cargo owners $10 per loaded TEU moved by conventional diesel-powered drayage trucks, and $20 for larger containers. These funds are used to support the purchase of ZE trucks and build the required charging and fueling infrastructure.
Since the program’s launch in April 2022, the Port has collected approximately $123 million in CTF revenue. As of March 2025, roughly $93 million has been spent or committed to initiatives that support ZE truck deployment and infrastructure development.
