Port of Los Angeles appoints new community relations director

Cecilia Moreno, a veteran worker of the City of Los Angeles Harbor Department, has been promoted to the Port of Los Angeles’ new community relations director. Moreno will replace Theresa Adams Lopez, who left the Port earlier this year.

Moreno will be in charge of the Californian port’s community relations team, special events, the administration of the department’s Community Investment Grants program, and sponsorships and memberships.

“Cecilia brings a wealth of knowledge and direct experience with our Port community to this position. We are fortunate to have Cecilia’s expertise and experience as we work to strengthen our community relations and communications throughout all of our Harbor communities,” stated Gene Seroka, executive director of Port of Los Angeles.

Moreno joined Port of Los Angeles in 2006 as a Community Affairs Advocate, serving Wilmington stakeholders. During her time at the Port, she has established herself as a Harbor Area leader. She founded the Wilmington Neighborhood Council and has served on the boards of the Wilmington YMCA, Friends of Banning’s Landing, and the Harbor Division Community-Police Advisory Board.

Also, Moreno was recently named Volunteer of the Year by the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce after serving on the board of directors for more than 20 years, many of them as a board member.
