Port of Long Beach moves nearly 9.9 million TEUs in 2025

The Port of Long Beach moved a record 9,881,595 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2025, surpassing the previous record of over 9.6 million TEUs set in 2024. Imports reached 4,779,559 TEUs, while exports totaled 1,141,113 TEUs. Empty container movements rose 6.7% to 3,960,925 TEUs.

For the first time, five of the Port’s six container terminals each handled more than 1 million TEUs, with two terminals processing over 2 million TEUs each. The Port accounted for 48.9% of all cargo moving through San Pedro Bay and achieved its third year moving over 9 million TEUs.

Port CEO Dr. Noel Hacegaba projects that trade volumes will continue growing, with the Port expected to handle more than 9 million TEUs in 2026.
