Port of Helsinki finds new vice president for container traffic

Vesa Marttinen has been appointed vice president of container traffic at the Port of Helsinki, replacing Jukka Kallio.

Marttinen, who has held various positions worldwide in the nautical and maritime industries, will take over his duties at the Finnish port in June.

He commented, “I find joining the Port of Helsinki team interesting and inspiring and I want to start developing operations, addressing challenges and learning about the operating environment from a new angle.”

Vesa Marttinen has completed difficult circular economy, environmental protection, and digitalisation development projects in the maritime industry, according to a port’s statement.

“Vesa’s strengths in customer-centric business management, cooperation with interest groups and development project follow-through provide an excellent basis for the development of our cargo business and we are excited to have him on board,” stated the chief executive officer of the Port of Helsinki, Ville Haapasaari.
