Port of Gothenburg CEO moves to Swedish shipping company

Elvir Dzanic, CEO of the Gothenburg Port Authority, formally submitted his letter of resignation on 7 February and intends to continue leading the Swedish port together with vice president Malin Collin until 7 August.

Regarding Dzanic’s career, he took over as CEO of the Gothenburg Port Authority in June 2019 and is going to become CEO of the shipping firm Wallenius Sol, which is also based in Gothenburg.

“I have had exceptionally good years at the Gothenburg Port Authority. We have fine-tuned our direction, positioned ourselves in the European market, established a green and digitised business model that creates value for our customers, succeeded in generating growth throughout and expanded the port through land acquisition,” stated Elvir Dzanic.

The board of the Gothenburg Port Authority will begin the search for Elvir Dzanic’s replacement as soon as possible.

“Ever since the recruitment and during the years we worked together, I have been aware that many other companies realised the fantastic potential Elvir has, and I knew that this day would come. I want to congratulate Wallenius Sol on a brilliant recruitment and I wish Elvir every success in developing yet another company in Sweden,” commented Cecilia Magnusson, chairwoman of the board of Gothenburg Port Authority.
