Port of Gijón and Prodevelop complete migration of Posidonia PCS to the cloud

The Port of Gijón proceeds with its digitalisation process by transferring its Port Community System (PCS) to the cloud.

Software company Prodevelop has been working with the Spanish port for many years, with Prodevelop’s PCS deployed on-premise. However, the port authority recently chose to take advantage of the benefits of working with a Software as a Service (SaaS) model and complete the migration of Posidonia PCS to the cloud.

The transition from on-premise to the cloud was seamless, and the port was able to continue providing its services without interruption.

“The transition has been very smooth, with hardly any impact on our day-to-day operations. Moreover, it was a change that we had to make sooner rather than later because of the many advantages that this model brings us,” stated Alejandro Coto, operations director of the Port of Gijón.

Working in the cloud will provide the Port Authority more control over expenditures because payments are recurring and do not require a significant upfront investment.

Accoridng to a statement, any upgrades to the solution will be provided to the Port Authority of Gijon at no cost.

In December 2022, the Port Authority of Gijón and Prodevelop also digitalised the rail-port system with a new module for railways.
