The Port of Aarhus, Denmark’s largest commercial port, posted its best quarter ever in 2025. Container traffic surged 27% in the first nine months, and the third quarter alone set a new record.
From July to September, the port handled 262,301 TEU, a 51% increase compared to the same period last year. CEO Thomas Haber Borch said, “Our strong route network, new ships, and growing recognition of Aarhus as a European transit hub drove this historic growth.”
He added, “The rise in container traffic comes during the busy pre-holiday period, putting pressure on terminals and staff. We are working hard to maintain efficiency and ensure smooth supply for Danish businesses and consumers.”
Overall freight turnover also increased. In Q3, the port handled 3,174,230 tonnes, up 25% from Q3 2024.
