Port Authority of Gijón and Prodevelop to digitalise rail-port system

The Port Authority of Gijón (PAG) is digitalising the rail-port system with a new module for railways.

The award to Prodevelop follows the Port Authority of Gijón (PAG) decision to improve the management of rail traffic within the port area, in what is a clear commitment to digitalisation and sustainability within the transport and logistics chain.

PAG mentions that the main objective is the implementation of a digital solution that monitors and coordinates rail traffic. Interoperability is expected to improve through the exchange of information in European rail freight services through digitalisation, and via the use of TAF TSI technical standards.

This new solution is going to integrate into the current port management platform at PAG. Prodevelop also supplies the two components of the port management system, Posidonia Management (PMIS) and Posidonia PCS. In fact, Posidonia Port Solutions is a product suite developed exclusively by Prodevelop.

The agreement also includes corresponding maintenance. In total, the project has a duration of two years.

The purpose of the Railway’s module is to provide PAG with an electronic solution for the management of the railway capacity and traffic, which will enable it to cover its needs and achieve the objectives set out in the framework of the European project I RAIL.

The exchange of information in a digital way is expected to improve the efficiency and quality of service and reduce operating costs.
