
Pilbara Ports delivered total monthly throughput of 55.9 million tonnes in February 2026. The result represents a 13% increase compared to February 2025.
The Port of Port Hedland marked its third consecutive month of record throughput. The three consecutive record months are December 2025, January 2026, and February 2026.
The result can be attributed to targeted operational changes implemented at the Port of Port Hedland in the last financial year. Changes include revised vessel movement guidelines for ebb-tide departures, creating sailing opportunities for larger vessels. Ongoing improvements to Dynamic Under Keel Clearance enabled vessels to maximize available sailing windows, safely maximize cargo, and contribute to increased overall shipping volumes.
The Port of Port Hedland achieved monthly record throughput of 40.6 million tonnes. Iron ore exports totaled 40 million tonnes. Total throughput increased 8% compared to February 2025.
Port of Port Hedland imports totaled 168,000 tonnes, down 8% compared to February 2025.
The Port of Dampier delivered total throughput of 12.5 million tonnes, up 25% on February 2025. Port of Dampier imports totaled 131,000 tonnes, up 40% on February 2025.
Pilbara Ports said several factors influence throughput fluctuation. These include changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations, and customer needs.
