PFL announces bunker adjustment factor surcharge

Pacific Forum Line has announced updated bunker adjustment factor surcharges that will take effect on all shipments beginning 1 October 2025.

The adjustments will apply across major trade routes in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.

Under the new structure, shipments moving between Australia and the South Pacific Islands will be subject to a surcharge of US$ 355 per TEU, or US$ 20.88 per revenue ton.

Cargo transported between Australia and New Zealand will incur a charge of US$ 155 per TEU (US$ 9.12 per RVT). For shipments from New Zealand to the South Pacific Islands, the surcharge will be US$ 247 per TEU (US$ 14.53 per RVT), while shipments in the opposite direction, from the South Pacific Islands to New Zealand, will carry the same rate.

Movements from New Zealand to Australia will be charged at US$ 250 per TEU (US$ 14.71 per RVT), while inter-island shipments within the South Pacific will attract the highest surcharge of USD 470 per TEU (US$ 27.65 per RVT).

PFL has further clarified that reefer containers will be subject to a coefficient of 1.5 times the dry container rate.

The company also noted that separate BAF levels will apply to trades between New Zealand or Australia and Papua New Guinea or the Cook Islands, with those figures to be communicated independently.
