
Peel Ports Group has appointed Gavin Laybourne as its Chief Technology and Information Officer, the first person to hold this role at the UK’s second-largest port operator.
Gavin will join the Group’s Executive team and lead all technology and information-related activities. This encompasses IT, cyber security, data analytics, green technologies, and ongoing automation and digital transformation of the Group’s operations.
He brings more than 25 years of technology leadership experience within global organizations: most recently serving as Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer at Maersk APM Terminals, the world’s second-largest terminal operator.
Previously, he served as Chief Information Officer at Marks and Spencer, following a long tenure at Shell Retail and Shell Downstream, including as Global Technology Director.
Claudio Veritiero, Chief Executive Officer at Peel Ports Group, stated that Gavin’s appointment represents another significant step in our innovation and technology strategies, and he will perform a critical role in the Group’s ambitious growth plans.
