Peel Ports Group appoints new Chief Commercial Officer

Jonathan Rayner

Peel Ports Group, the UK’s second-largest port operator, has appointed Jonathan Rayner as Chief Commercial Officer. The move strengthens the Executive team and supports the company’s growth strategy.

Jonathan joins from London Luton Airport, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer since 2020. He previously held senior commercial and operational roles across major UK airports and infrastructure organisations.

He will join the Executive Board, lead the Group’s commercial strategy, and drive growth across all markets. His role will align commercial activities with Peel Ports’ strategic objectives.

The appointment follows Stephen Carr stepping down as Group Commercial Director. Stephen joined Peel Ports in 2009 and led key projects, including the Liverpool2 container terminal. He will remain part-time as Director of Public Affairs, engaging with national policy-makers.

Claudio Veritiero, CEO, said: “We welcome Jonathan. His transport and commercial expertise will be invaluable. We thank Stephen for his years of service. His leadership shaped our business, and we are glad he will continue supporting public affairs.”

Jonathan Rayner said: “Ports drive global trade. I am honoured to join Peel Ports at a time of momentum. The Group has strong partnerships and a track record of success. I look forward to improving commercial performance and shaping the next chapter of growth.”

Stephen Carr said: “Peel Ports has evolved greatly over my 16 years. I value the talented teams who keep operations running. Ports contribute to regional communities and the UK economy. I now focus on public affairs to support jobs, businesses, and policy influence.”
