Patrick Terminals is celebrating the first anniversary of its battery-electric terminal trucks at Fremantle, an Australian first in the port sector’s move towards decarbonisation.

The fleet of nine electric trucks, supported by dedicated charging infrastructure, has been operating since 2023 as part of the company’s broader decarbonisation strategy. The initiative was backed by US$2.5 million in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) under the Driving the Nation program.

Over the past year, the trucks have proven their effectiveness in daily operations, cutting emissions, reducing noise, and contributing to a more sustainable port environment.

Patrick Terminals described the project as a significant step in its energy transition, showing what’s possible when innovation and investment align. The company emphasized that building resilient, efficient, and sustainable supply chains will remain at the heart of its strategy for Australia’s future.
