OrbitMI, a maritime SaaS software provider, has acquired Gale Force, a maritime advisory services company specializing in voyage optimization, environmental compliance, and voyage execution support.
The deal is aimed at expanding OrbitMI’s platform by embedding Gale Force’s expertise directly into daily workflows, giving clients faster access to actionable insights. OrbitMI said it remains committed to partnerships with technology and data providers but noted that some capabilities are best delivered within its platform for tighter integration and responsiveness.
“We’re building more than a platform, we’re building a partner in maritime decision-making,” said Ali Riaz, CEO of OrbitMI. “Bringing Gale Force into the OrbitMI family allows us to embed critical advisory services directly into daily workflows, helping our clients move from insight to action even faster.”
The acquisition follows OrbitMI’s recent purchase of AI specialist AuQub, reflecting its strategy to blend domain expertise with technology. Gale Force’s services include route optimization supported by marine meteorologists, emissions compliance tools aligned with IMO DCS, EU MRV and CII, and flexible reporting templates compatible with shipboard systems.
“Gale Force brings practical maritime insight that sharpens our platform’s decision support capabilities,” said Alexandre Lapointe, Chief Product Officer at OrbitMI. “Their operational and environmental expertise lets us build tools that reflect the realities of day-to-day shipping.”
OrbitMI added it will continue to support integrations with multiple weather service providers, ensuring clients can choose solutions best suited to their operations. “The client’s success continues to be our North Star,” Riaz said.
