OOCL offers coronavirus operational update

Hong Kong-based liner operator OOCL has said that most major terminals in China are operating normally, but that some terminals, notably in Shanghai, Ningbo and Tianjin, the demand for reefer sockets on shore has meant that there are challenges for perishable cargo.

The vessel operator said it will work with customers to find alternatives for perishable cargo that cannot find power sources in these areas.

Meanwhile, the company requires all crew to undergo temperature checks and to wear masks, in addition OOCL has outlined other precautions it has taken to combat the spread of the coronavirus, including cancelling leave requests from crew, suspending crew replacement, restricting shore passes for crew in Chinese ports and other ports subject to measures being implemented by local authorities and temperature checking any personnel that board OOCL vessels.

In addition, the company has said that many of its Chinese offices have reopened today. A list of OOCL offices and their status is shown below:
