Wan Hai Lines continues the complex recovery operation onboard the Wan Hai 503, currently berthed at the Port of Jebel Ali.
Most of the remaining containers are severely deformed, melted, or structurally weakened. To ensure safety, each unit must be individually secured and lifted under real-time load monitoring. Prolonged exposure to intense heat has also caused serious structural deformation in the cargo holds, with melted stacks and damaged securing structures requiring re-planned lifting paths and additional safety precautions.
Specialized heavy-duty lifting equipment, including hydraulic grabs, is being used to manage the damaged containers. Each container must be carefully separated and removed one by one, resulting in extended handling times but ensuring maximum operational safety.
As of November 2, 2025, a total of 799 containers have been discharged, with 923 units remaining.
Wan Hai Lines, together with onsite experts, continues to work diligently to overcome these challenges and accelerate progress without compromising safety. The company expressed its appreciation to all relevant authorities, partners, and professional teams for their continued support and cooperation throughout this operation.
