The Port of Lisbon has welcomed the first-ever magenta vessel to call at the Portuguese port, marking a notable milestone for regional container shipping connectivity.
The ONE RECOMMENDATION made an ad hoc call from the Far East between December 7 and 9, drawing attention with ONE’s distinctive magenta livery. The call is being viewed as a positive step toward the potential establishment of a regular container service linking Portugal with Asian trade lanes.
Built in March 2024, the ONE RECOMMENDATION measures 272 meters in length, with a capacity of 5,700 TEU and 83,706 dwt, underscoring its role in mainline and long-haul container operations.
Port stakeholders highlighted the successful handling of the vessel despite a challenging operating environment, which included industrial action, public holidays, adverse weather conditions and the implementation of the SimTem system.
Operations at the terminal were supported by Yilport Lisboa (Liscont), whose performance was credited with ensuring a smooth and efficient port call under demanding circumstances.
The inaugural visit of a ONE vessel to Lisbon is seen as a promising signal for the port’s future role in global container networks and its growing appeal as a gateway for Far East trade.
