ONE equips its reefer fleet with telematic devices

Ocean Network Express (ONE) unveiled its plans to install telematic devices on its reefer container fleet.

The Japanese box carrier said it seeks to provide clients with comprehensive visibility of their cargo as well as optimised operational decision-making through the use of telematic devices.

ONE described its latest move as a “significant milestone in its digitalisation strategy”. The company believes information can help to improve its current range of reefer products and ensure freight arrives in good condition.

“Improved visibility is one of the primary advantages of placing telematic devices on our reefer box fleet,” said ONE which will receive active monitoring data on the temperature, humidity, and other parameters inside reefer containers.

Furthermore, ONE will be able to better track the cargo’s condition and identify any potential problems, while with active monitoring data, ONE noted it will also be able to make more proactive cargo-handling decisions.

Additionally, ONE said it will be able to provide improved customer service as it will be able to provide its customers with more detailed information about the condition of their cargo.

“The installation of telematic devices on our reefer box fleet is a testament to our unwavering dedication to enhancing the customer experience while driving digital transformation in the containerized reefer trade,” stated Kenichi Michida, senior vice president of Strategic Yield Management at ONE.
