Ocean Alliance reroutes FAL1 eastbound via Suez

The Ocean Alliance has revised the rotation of its Europe–Far East FAL1 service, adding an eastbound call at the Red Sea port of Jeddah.

The FAL1 service, operated by CMA CGM within the Ocean Alliance partnership of CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping Lines/OOCL and Evergreen, will now include Jeddah on its eastbound leg. The change results in a reduction of the overall roundtrip time by one week, bringing the full rotation to approximately 14 weeks.

The limited reduction in voyage duration indicates that the service will continue to route its westbound leg via the Cape of Good Hope, rather than returning through the Suez Canal.

Under the revised rotation, the port sequence will be as follows: Southampton, Dunkirk, Gdansk, Gothenburg, Le Havre, Southampton, Jeddah, Port Kelang, Ningbo, Shanghai, Shenzhen (Yantian), Singapore, Tangier, and back to Southampton.

The addition of Jeddah strengthens eastbound connectivity between Europe and Asia while maintaining operational flexibility amid ongoing route and security considerations affecting global liner shipping.
