
The Oakland Board of Port Commissioners has unanimously elected Andreas Cluver as its new President.
Joining him in the leadership team are Commissioner Jahmese Myres as First Vice President and Commissioner Barbara Leslie as Second Vice President.
President Cluver brings extensive experience and institutional knowledge to the role. He previously served as President of the Board from 2020 to 2022, First Vice President from 2018 to 2020, and most recently as First Vice President during the past year. A member of the Port Commission since 2016, Cluver currently serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Alameda County.
His career has also included work as a business representative for local trade unions and as a program director with the AFL-CIO in Southern Africa.
Cluver noted that he looks forward to continuing the work, in partnership with the staff and with labor, community, and industry stakeholders, to ensure that the Port of Oakland grows responsibly, creates jobs, and generates economic opportunity for our city and region.
Commissioner Jahmese Myres has been elected First Vice President after joining the Board in July 2023.
Commissioner Barbara Leslie has been elected Second Vice President, continuing her leadership on the Board. Leslie previously served as Board President from 2022 to 2024, First Vice President from 2020 to 2022, and has held various leadership roles since joining the Board in 2018. She also serves as President and CEO of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
President Cluver also extended his gratitude to outgoing Board President Michael Colbruno and retiring Commissioner Yui Hay Lee, recognizing their longstanding dedication to environmental leadership at the Port.
