The Nagoya Port Authority (NPA) has signed a contract with Meiko Trans to sell land on the Port of Nagoya’s Tobishima Pier, according to Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA).
In April, the NPA announced it would sell E Zone of the second reclaimed lumberyard and require the buyer to maintain and manage neighboring land according to relevant regulations. The authority began accepting proposals that complied with these terms.
Meiko Trans submitted a proposal to establish a comprehensive logistics center on the land. Based on this, the NPA selected the company as the buyer, leading to the signing of the contract.
The land for sale is located at 28-5 and 30-5 Nishihama, Tobishima-mura, Ama-gun, Aichi Prefecture, covering 71,639.13 square meters. The sale price is ¥5.5 billion (approximately US$35 million), and the transfer will occur this month or later. A neighboring 1,200.75-square-meter plot at 30-6 and 28-1 Nishihama will also be included.
Meiko Trans plans to strengthen its business presence at the Port of Nagoya as part of its medium-term business plan, MX2029. The company will develop a logistics center and yard on Tobishima Pier, enhancing its corporate value and supporting operations at one of the port’s major logistics facilities.
