New CCM chassis arrive at NC Ports

North Carolina Ports (NC Ports) announced the arrival of Consolidated Chassis Management’s (CCM) new build container chassis in preparation for the introduction of SACP 3.0.

SACP 3.0, the South Atlantic’s next-generation interoperable chassis pool, will begin operations in October and will consist of 50,000 modernised chassis serving 75 places in North and South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

The introduction of SACP 3.0 builds on recent enhancements and infrastructure improvements at the Port of Wilmington aimed at better serving truckers and the local port-user community while maintaining the best trucker turn-times on the East Coast.

The Port of Wilmington formally opened its new South Gate Container Complex last year, a US$26 million project that redesigned the port’s existing container gate layout utilised by truckers, boosting the number of outbound and inbound lanes to six and seven, respectively.

The new complex incorporates several innovative technologies, including weigh-in-motion scales, OCR portals, truck RFID tags and licence plate readers, and other features designed to shorten turnaround times.
