Neptune Pacific announces new BAF surcharge

Neptune Pacific has advised customers that updated Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) surcharges will take effect on all shipments starting 1 January 2026. The revised charges apply across routes linking Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands, as well as inter-island trades.

Under the new structure, shipments from Australia to the South Pacific Islands will carry a BAF of USD 356 per TEU and USD 20.94 per RVT, while cargo from Australia to New Zealand will be charged USD 166 per TEU and USD 9.76 per RVT. Northbound shipments from New Zealand to the South Pacific Islands will be subject to USD 253 per TEU and USD 14.88 per RVT, and New Zealand to Australia will incur USD 261 per TEU and USD 15.35 per RVT.

For South Pacific Islands exports, the surcharge to Australia will match the USD 356 and USD 20.94 levels, while shipments to New Zealand will follow the USD 253 and USD 14.88 rates. Inter-island trades will see a BAF of USD 495 per TEU and USD 29.12 per RVT.

Neptune Pacific noted that reefer cargo will be calculated using a trade coefficient of 1.5 per dry TEU, except on routes to and from the United States, where dry and reefer bunker rates remain aligned. Low Sulphur Fuel (LSF) for Asia, Europe and Africa services to and from the Pacific Islands, along with BAF levels for the United States, Norfolk Island and the Cook Islands trade, will be communicated separately.

The company encouraged customers with questions to contact their Neptune Pacific representative and thanked them for their continued support.
