NAVTOR has partnered with Risk Intelligence to integrate real-time maritime security data into its NavStation route planning platform. The update gives navigators and shore teams clear, customizable notifications layered directly onto ENCs. This helps plan voyages with greater safety and confidence.
NavStation serves over 18,000 vessels worldwide. It already provides weather updates, port information, environmental rules, and NAVAREA warnings. Its automated passage planning module helps crews navigate efficiently and comply with regulations.
Timo Essers, e-Navigation Director at NAVTOR, said risk analysis was previously a “missing piece of the puzzle.” He explained: “Shipping faces a complex threat landscape, from piracy and smuggling to geopolitical unrest and navigational jamming. Bridge officers cannot track it all alone. Integrating Risk Intelligence’s verified insights gives clear, actionable information for safer decisions.”
The module is available via subscription. Companies can choose global coverage or specific operations, for single vessels or entire fleets. Notifications update continuously and allow users to drill down into details. Essers says it unlocks “a new level of situational awareness.”

Hans Tino Hansen, CEO of Risk Intelligence, said: “Bridge officers and shore teams face immense pressure. By integrating our intelligence into NavStation, we deliver simple, seamless, and powerful support. It helps shipping companies navigate risk with confidence.”
The Risk Intelligence module is part of NavStation 6.4, released 29 September. The update also includes port database improvements, routing enhancements, and other functional upgrades.

NAVTOR, founded in 2011 and based in Norway, leads in e-Navigation and maritime technology with 13 offices and over 400 staff. Risk Intelligence, founded in 2001 in Denmark, provides security intelligence to 16% of the global merchant fleet and NATO government clients.
