On October 18, the naming ceremony for COSCO SHIPPING Sagittarius, the 9th 20,000 TEU ULCS of the COSCO SHIPPING constellation series, was held at the shipyard of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS).

As the last of the three sister ships built by SWS for COSCO SHIPPING Lines, COSCO SHIPPING Sagittarius will soon serve on the Far East-Northwest Europe loop (AEU3). The vessel will further optimize the global network of COSCO SHIPPING and provide important logistics support for the development of global economy and trade, as well as open exchanges between different countries and regions, while providing more convenient and efficient end-to-end transportation services to its clients around the world.

With an LOA of 399.8 meters, molded beam of 58.6 meters and maximum draft of 16 meters, it was classed by both DNV-GL and CCS. It has a maximum load of 20,119 TEU and is fitted with 1,000 reefer plugs. The intelligent vessel features large capacity, low energy consumption and low emission. Its EEDI has reached the IMO 2030 standard, and the nitrogen oxide emission has also met the IMO Nox Tier II standard, reflecting the most advanced design concept and shipbuilding techniques.
