Myanmar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications has issued a call for bids for a feasibility study for the construction of a new international port terminal.
The terminal is expected to be built in the Mawlamyine area of Mon State on the west coast of Myanmar’s southeastern peninsula.
The feasibility study will be conducted between Talauk Nyaung Wine village and Wekali village of Mudon Township in Mawlamyine district.
As announced by the Tender Acceptance and Scrutiny Committee, tender application forms can be purchased from 25 May until 3 June.
The new container terminal is expected to enhance the urban development of the Mawlamyine area and revitalise the region economically by connecting it to large shipping lanes, which will boost imports and exports of goods, especially to and from the Middle East and Africa.
