MSC to launch new Eagle service

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is set to launch its new Australia/New Zealand–US East Coast Eagle service, expanding its transpacific and inter-regional network.

The service will begin next week and will deploy 11 vessels ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 TEU. It will operate as a standalone service with weekly sailings, optimized speeds, and competitive transit times.

Expanded rotation and port coverage

MSC has updated the rotation to include Wellington as an additional port of call.

The full rotation will cover:
Sydney – Melbourne – Brisbane – Wellington – Tauranga – Balboa/Rodman – Cristobal (Colón) – Philadelphia – Savannah – Freeport – Papeete – Auckland – Sydney.

The service also calls directly at Philadelphia and Savannah, strengthening links between Oceania, the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Strategic transshipment hubs in Rodman, Freeport, and Cristobal will support onward connections.

Faster transit times and improved reliability

The Eagle service offers competitive transit times, including:

  • Tauranga to Philadelphia: 25 days
  • Brisbane to Philadelphia: 31 days
  • Savannah to Auckland: 27 days
  • Philadelphia to Sydney: 34 days

MSC designed the service to improve supply chain efficiency and ensure reliable delivery windows, especially for perishable cargo.

Strengthening global connectivity

The new service enhances connectivity between Australia, New Zealand, and the US East Coast, while also providing links to Europe, the Mediterranean, South America, and the Caribbean.

By expanding its network, MSC gives shippers more routing options and strengthens trade flows across key global markets.
