Due to major operational challenges stemming from safety concerns and a nationwide fuel shortage, MSC has announced a temporary suspension of road transportation for cargo destined for Mali until further notice.
As a result, MSC will no longer accept bookings for Mali — whether via true Bills of Lading or via pier and transit — effective immediately. This suspension affects all ports of discharge, including Abidjan, Dakar, Tema, Lome, and Conakry.
For bookings accepted prior to 6 November 2025, and in line with Clause 19 of MSC’s Bill of Lading and Sea Waybill Terms and Conditions, the company is offering customers the following options for affected cargo:
-
Delivery of cargo to the contracted port of discharge or place of delivery.
-
Suspension of carriage with cargo stored ashore or afloat, to be forwarded once conditions permit.
-
Storage of cargo at any port or location deemed safe and convenient by MSC, at the merchant’s expense, until road transportation to Mali resumes.
MSC stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and will resume operations as soon as it is safe and feasible to do so.
