MSC re-charters ships ensnared in Russia sanctions

MSC is rehiring two post-Panamax container ships that were detained in Malta for two years due to sanctions against the former Russian owner of the vessels.

The 2006-built 8,204 TEU ships, formerly called MSC Bilbao and MSC Valencia, were detained since mid-2022, because of sanctions on their previous owner, Russian state-owned leasing company GTLK Joint Stock Company.
