MSC launches fast new Alpaca service for Far East to South America

MSC Rose, which operates MSC’s Britannia Ocean Service, docks alongside BCT’s Helskie Quay following the completion of Phase 1 works.

MSC is excited to announce the launch of its new Alpaca service, starting in September 2025, which will offer customers exceptionally fast transit times for trade between the Far East and the South America West Coast.

This service will feature market-leading speeds, including direct connections between Ningbo, China, via Busan, South Korea, to Callao, Peru.

This unique weekly standalone service will directly call at Chilean ports, enhancing MSC’s connectivity to Bolivia’s critical trade gateways at Arica and Iquique.

Tailored to meet the demands of the Chilean cherry season, the Alpaca service will also operate as MSC’s Cherry Express, providing the fastest and most reliable solution for exporters targeting Asian markets. MSC’s Smart Reefer technology will further ensure the highest standards of cargo integrity, freshness, and visibility for refrigerated shipments throughout the entire supply chain.

The full rotation of the Alpaca service is as follows:

Ningbo (CN) – Busan (KR) – Callao (PE) – Arica (CL) – Iquique (CL) – San Antonio (CL) – Nansha (CN) – Hong Kong (CN) – Ningbo (CN)
