MSC Indus 2 service completes maiden call at PhilaPort

MSC’s Indus 2 service made its first call at the Port of Philadelphia (PhilaPort) on 27 April with the 6,730 TEU container ship MSC Michaela calling at the port’s Packer Avenue Marine Terminal.

“This service gives Philadelphia shippers direct connections to India, Italy, Spain, and Portugal,” said PhilaPort in a statement.

“Shippers want more efficient options and this new India/Med service fits perfectly into our wheelhouse,” commented Jeff Theobald, executive director and CEO of PhilaPort.

“We have been working on attracting a service like Indus 2 for a while,” said Sean Mahoney, PhilaPort’s director of marketing, adding, “Our terminal operator, Holt Logistics, has really done a great job with the customer base and made this service a reality.”
