MSC expands St. Petersburg coverage

MSC has strengthened its feeder network in the Baltic region by introducing two new shuttle services between Klaipeda and St. Petersburg.

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has strengthened its feeder network in the Baltic region by introducing two new shuttle services between Klaipeda and St. Petersburg, according to Alphaliner.

The new services will operate from MSC’s regional hub in Klaipeda and are intended to enhance connectivity to the Russian port.

Baltic Loop 3 will deploy a single vessel of about 3,000 TEU capacity operating on a weekly basis between Klaipeda and St. Petersburg.

A second service, Baltic Loop 12, will be operated by two vessels of approximately 1,700 TEU each, providing sailings every five days on the same route.

According to Alphaliner, the introduction of the two new shuttles has led MSC to remove the Klaipeda–St. Petersburg leg from its Baltic Loop 2 service.

Following this adjustment, Baltic Loop 2 will now operate on a revised rotation linking Antwerp, Kotka, Klaipeda, Kotka and returning to Antwerp.

The changes are part of MSC’s efforts to optimize its feeder network in the Baltic Sea while improving service frequency and operational flexibility between Klaipeda and St. Petersburg.
