MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced the introduction of a Congestion Surcharge (CGS) on all cargo shipments from India, Pakistan, and the Middle East to Guinea, citing ongoing congestion at the Port of Conakry.
Effective from July 28, 2025 (gate-in date) until further notice, the surcharge will be applied at a rate of USD 300 per TEU. The charge covers dry, reefer, and special equipment.
According to MSC, the measure is necessary to offset rising operational costs and disruptions caused by limited port capacity and delays at Conakry, which continue to impact vessel schedules and cargo handling efficiency.
