The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) will trial the Container Fast Pass (CONPAS) system at the Port of Yokohama’s Honmoku Pier from November 13 to 27, according to Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA).
CONPAS, developed by MLIT, aims to reduce congestion at container terminal gates and shorten container handling times, boosting the competitiveness of Keihin Ports (Tokyo, Kawasaki, and Yokohama). The trial will build on insights from previous tests.
At BC1 and D1 terminals, CONPAS will manage trailer traffic on 10 weekdays to balance container deliveries and pickups. At D4 terminal, it will manage outgoing trailers and streamline cargo handling. At B2 terminal, it will operate on November 26–27 and test the booking system.
