Mintra, a global leader in digital learning and workforce management solutions for the maritime and energy sectors, has completed the acquisition of SQLearn, a leading Greek provider of online maritime training solutions. The move reinforces Mintra’s commitment to supporting the maritime industry’s digital transformation in Greece and beyond.
Mintra offers a comprehensive suite of learning, HR, and crew-management software, including its flagship platforms, Trainingportal and OCS HR. These tools help shipping companies optimize global workforces, deliver training, manage compliance, and improve operational efficiency.
Founded in 2006 and based in Piraeus, SQLearn has built a strong reputation in Greek maritime e-learning. Its offerings include an in-house learning management system, a library of STCW-approved online courses covering safety, security, environmental compliance, soft skills, and vetting readiness, as well as advanced training delivery tools suitable for onboard and ashore use. SQLearn serves over 1,000 vessels, 50,000 seafarers, and 150 shipping companies worldwide.
The acquisition brings together Mintra’s global reach and SQLearn’s local expertise, creating a powerful platform to accelerate digital learning adoption in Greece while making advanced maritime technologies accessible to Mintra’s global customers.
Spyros Goumas, CEO of SQLearn, said: “With Mintra powering our Greek-developed products and offering international reach, we foresee enormous benefits for shipowners and seafarers alike.” Kevin Short, CEO of Mintra, added: “SQLearn’s proven products and local knowledge will help us deliver greater value in Greece and beyond, supporting the maritime industry’s urgent need for digital transformation.”
Both companies thanked Advokatfirmaet CLP DA, KBVL Law Firm, Deloitte Advisory, and Nordea Bank for their support during the transaction. Together, Mintra and SQLearn will continue to deliver accredited courses, training-management tools, and crew competency solutions, helping shipping companies meet regulatory requirements, enhance safety and sustainability, and manage crews efficiently across global fleets.
