Meratus expands fleet with two new 700 TEU ships

As DynaLiners reported, Indonesian carrier Meratus is boosting its regional capacity. The Surabaya-based domestic and intra-Asia line has ordered two additional 700 TEU ships from CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering.

These vessels join eight previously ordered of the same design, with four already delivered. The new ships are scheduled for completion in 2027.

Meratus operates mainly in domestic and intra-Asia trade lanes. The 700 TEU ships are ideal for these routes, offering flexibility, efficiency, and quick port turnaround times.

The expansion reflects growing demand for regional cargo services in Southeast Asia. By standardizing its fleet, Meratus can optimize operations and maintain consistent service reliability.

The carrier’s investment signals confidence in the regional shipping market and its own growth strategy. With these additions, Meratus strengthens its ability to serve domestic and short-sea routes efficiently while preparing for future trade opportunities.
