Matson has promoted three executives into new leadership roles as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthen its operations and leadership team.
Vic Angoco has been named Executive Vice President, Operations, and will be based at Matson’s new corporate office in Walnut Creek, California. In this role, Angoco will oversee the company’s network operations, including West Coast terminals, vessel operations and engineering, equipment operations, and corporate facilities.
Angoco, a 35-year maritime veteran, began his career on Guam and joined Matson in 1996 as sales and customer service manager there.
He has since held leadership positions in San Francisco, Guam, and Hawaii, including Senior Vice President of Matson’s Pacific Division, overseeing operations in Hawaii, Guam, Micronesia, and the South Pacific. Since 2022, he has led Matson’s Alaska operations.
Jennifer Tungul has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Alaska, succeeding Angoco. She will now oversee all of Matson’s business activities in Alaska.
Tungul joined the company’s Alaska operations in 2002 and has advanced through a series of finance and operations leadership roles, including terminal manager in Dutch Harbor, general manager for Dutch Harbor, and director of Alaska operations. She was appointed Vice President, Alaska Operations, in 2022.
Rob Olson has been promoted to Vice President, Alaska Operations, succeeding Tungul. In his new role, he will have primary management responsibility for Matson’s terminal operations in Anchorage, Kodiak, and Dutch Harbor.
Olson joined Matson in 2022 as General Manager of the Anchorage Terminal and later assumed additional oversight of Safety, Quality, Environment, and Security for Alaska terminals.
He previously worked as a transportation and maintenance manager for a major grocery chain and served eight years in the US Marine Corps.
Matt Cox, Chairman and CEO of Matson, highlighted the appoints saying that Vic is one of Matson’s most experienced and trusted leaders, and will add depth to the leadership team overseeing vessel and terminal operations, while, Jenn and Rob have distinguished themselves among the next generation of senior leaders and are well positioned to guide our Alaska operations into the future.
