Marlink supports Knutsen Group’s digital transformation

Marlink, a provider of managed IT services, is enhancing digital transformation for tanker and gas carrier operator Knutsen Group.

A long-time Marlink customer, Knutsen Group has expanded its fleetwide VSAT installations by adding two Starlink LEO terminals to each of its 59 vessels, along with 19 new builds.

After evaluating the potential of LEO services to enhance applications and user experience for its crew, Knutsen Group selected Marlink to upgrade its fleet with the comprehensive Sealink NextGen solution.

This upgrade offers several key benefits:

  • High-bandwidth, low-latency LEO connectivity supports advanced applications within a secure hybrid network.
  • Enhanced business and welfare services align with Knutsen Group’s ESG commitments and operational goals.

Marlink’s customer integration team collaborated closely with Knutsen Group to ensure a smooth fleetwide deployment.

“As a specialised operator focused on safety and efficiency, Knutsen Group works with trusted partners, which made Marlink the natural choice to support our digital transformation,” stated Thomas Svendsen, IT Manager, Knutsen Group. “Expanding the range of applications available for business functions and crew welfare will create new opportunities for Knutsen Group going forward.”

By seamlessly integrating LEO, VSAT, and MSS into a fully managed service, Sealink NextGen will enhance user experience and application performance. Additionally, Knutsen Group will trial Marlink’s software-defined routing (SD-WAN) solution to optimize network management and ensure reliable business-critical communications.

“The scale and scope of this Sealink NextGen upgrade demonstrates solid teamwork and efficient workflows within our teams and the client,” commented Tore Morten Olsen, President, Maritime, Marlink. “The possibilities that this hybrid network solution creates for Knutsen Group will support their strategy for fully digitalised operations.”
