Mariel Container Terminal ready for 10,000+ TEU vessels

The dredging of the channel in the Mariel Container Terminal (TCM) in Cuba has been completed and the Cuban box terminal will now be able to handle Neo Panamax vessels.

According to TCM’s statement, buoys have been moved in accordance with the new channel measurements, enabling the port to accept vessels up to 366 metres long, 52 metres wide, and 15 metres deep.

“Thanks to our infrastructure, our privileged geographic location on the north-south and east-west routes, a reliable workforce and high levels of security, TCM is well-positioned to continue to grow,” stated Martin Jose Spini, general manager of TCM.

Mariel’s port is located in the Caribbean, 45 kilometres from Havana, Cuba’s capital, in a sheltered deep-water bay.

Martin said, “The deepening of the access channel marks another milestone for the port and will add to the strengths of TCM”.
