Marcura has acquired Shipdem, a UK-based specialist in chemical tanker laytime and demurrage, from its parent company, Casper Shipping. The deal strengthens Marcura’s position in a complex tanker segment.

Shipdem brings strong expertise in chemical tanker demurrage. This field requires deep technical knowledge and precise claims handling. The team manages the full claims process for traders and operators. It has built strong relationships across the chemical shipping market.

The acquisition follows Marcura’s purchase of HubSE in 2025. It continues Marcura’s investment in claims management across major cargo types. HubSE offers self-service demurrage tools. Shipdem provides fully managed services. Together, they give customers flexible end-to-end solutions.

“Customers need different levels of support,” said Henrik Hyldahn, Group CEO of Marcura. “We offer both software and expert teams. Shipdem strengthens our technical capability in chemical demurrage and expands customer choice.”

Shipdem will join Marcura Claims. The team will stay focused on chemical demurrage. It will also share expertise across the group. Shipdem customers will see no disruption. They will now benefit from Marcura’s global network and technology.

“Marcura’s strategy aligns with what Shipdem has built,” said Michael Shakesheff, Group Managing Director of Casper Shipping. “Our customers keep the same team, now backed by Marcura’s global scale.”
