Mandatory container pick up based on identity at Port of Antwerp-Bruges

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges, the port community and NxtPort have decided that from 15 January 2024, all transport operators must pick up containers based on Certified Pick up.

The Belgian port said that when Certified Pick up will be operational at all terminals and for all modes of transport in January, pin codes for picking up a box will be completely eliminated.

“This means that the import process for a container at all Antwerp container terminals will be done entirely through Certified Pick up,” noted the port in a statement.

In the next months, the major European port will make Certified Pick up available for barge and rail at the terminals. Afterwards, pilot projects will start at each terminal, and the link with Secure Container Release will also be complete for the shipping companies involved.
