On 17 July, MANA Nutrition officials celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony for a major expansion of the company’s supply chain facilities with a new 29,729 m² warehouse in Pooler, Georgia.
The new facility is located four miles from the Port of Savannah and is expected to enable MANA to double its production capacity and enhance storage capabilities.
“We want to dedicate about 30% of the facility to the opportunity to expand production with products we don’t presently make at our Fitzgerald facility,” pointed out Mark Moore, CEO of MANA Nutrition.
A M King, the design-build firm, will convert the unfinished warehouse into a state-of-the-art food processing facility, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2025.
Moore said, “This new facility will be unique due to its vicinity to a port and its ability to scale up production quickly. We shipped over 1,000 containers last year through Savannah. The Port of Savannah is the most efficient and, with our new warehouse, should be approaching the largest port for the export of RUTF in the world. If it is not the biggest food aid warehouse in the world, it is among the largest.”
The facility will produce MANA’s Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and Ready-to-Use Supplemental Food (RUSF), complementing the company’s existing production and storage operations in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
MANA Nutrition produces a fortified peanut butter-based product called RUTF, made from roasted Georgia peanuts and enriched with protein, vitamins, and milk powder. This innovative product, which does not require cooking, water, or refrigeration, has a shelf life of 24 months.
“We want to congratulate MANA Nutrition for their growth and success in this exciting development that will expand their production and distribution capacity. Thank you for your vision and the important work you do worldwide to prevent hunger. We’re honoured to handle your vital product line through our port,” stated Griff Lynch, CEO and president of GPA.
