
A.P. Moller – Maersk has announced an adjustment to its Emergency Contingency Surcharge (ECS) for shipments from East Coast South America to the Middle East Red Sea region and Salalah, Oman.
The revised surcharge will take effect from 15 March 2026 until further notice under the X5LM trade lane.
Updated ECS Levels
For shipments to Jeddah, King Abdullah Port, Jordan, and Salalah, the ECS will be:

USD 1,800 per 20’ dry container

USD 3,000 per 40’/45’ dry container
Surcharges Under Review
Maersk said surcharges are being regularly reviewed due to the evolving operating environment. The carrier may adjust or extend the charges to additional trades depending on market conditions.
